Department Overview:
The General Department of Luohu People's Hospital was established in April 2001, and was renamed the General Department (Geriatrics Department) in January 2022 due to the need for medical development. Located on the 7th and 8th floors of the Medical Technology Building, the department has private suites, single wards, and double wards with 26 beds available. The wards are fully equipped with facilities and feature an elegant comfortable environment.
The department has long been committed to clinical diagnosis and treatment of geriatric diseases, and also is responsible for chronic disease management, prevention and rehabilitation. Carry out comprehensive geriatric assessment in a standardized manner, it evaluates and manages common geriatric syndromes simultaneously. It has established a multidisciplinary team (MDT) , forming an inter-disciplinary teamwork composed of Geriatricians, rehabilitative therapists, apothecarys, nutritionists, psychologists and geriatric specialist nurses to provide personalized comprehensive treatment for geriatric syndromes and acute/chronic diseases of various systems in the elderly.

Staff Composition:
The General Department (Geriatrics Department) has 23 medical staff, including 9 physicians and 15 nurses. There are 1 chief physician, 3 associate chief physicians, 4 attending physicians and 1 resident physician.

1. Adopting a comorbidity management model to provide holistic, full-course, and continuous management for acute and chronic diseases of various systems in the elderly.
2. Focusing on the characteristics of elderly patients often accompanied by geriatric syndromes (such as falls, insomnia, pain, frailty, sarcopenia, malnutrition, polypharmacy, etc.), carrying out comprehensive geriatric assessments and providing comprehensive management and treatment in conjunction with geriatric chronic diseases.
3. Providing systematic and continuous medical nursing services for geriatric patients through interdisciplinary integrated teams. Organizing hospital-wide expert MDT consultations when necessary to minimize patients’ suffering.
