Department Overview

Obstetrics has a long history and was one of the first departments established and focused on development after the establishment of Luohu District People's Hospital in 1957. After more than 60 years of growth and the hard work of several generations, our obstetrics department has now developed into a professional discipline that integrates medical treatment, teaching, training, and scientific research. It has complete sub specialties, advanced equipment, and strong technical strength. At the same time, it has become a prenatal diagnosis center and midwifery training base in Guangdong Province.

Obstetrics consists of an obstetrics outpatient department and an inpatient department. The inpatient department includes delivery rooms, prenatal and baby friendly areas. In addition to offering regular prenatalcheck-upsand high-risk pregnancy clinics, the outpatient department also has specialized clinics such as prenatal diagnosis centers, maternal fetal medical centers, recurrent miscarriage treatment centers, maternal nutrition clinics, fetal monitoring centers, pelvic floor rehabilitation treatment clinics, midwife clinics, breastfeeding clinics, etc.

The overall strength of obstetrics is strong, and standardized diagnosis and treatment plans have been established for common and critical diseases in obstetrics. It can independently carry out clinical technology in obstetrics in tertiary hospitals. The annual number of outpatient and emergency visits reaches 55000, the annual number of hospitalizations is 3500, and the annual number of deliveries is 2800. As a large comprehensive hospital, obstetrics has the advantage of multidisciplinary collaboration, specializing in high-risk pregnancy management, critical care of pregnant women, prenatal eugenics diagnosis, pregnancy health management, postpartum rehabilitation treatment, and diagnosis and treatment of recurrent miscarriage. Establishing a family friendly delivery room to accompany and relieve pain during childbirth. The Maternal Fetal Medical Center can complete chorionic villus biopsy, amniocentesis and umbilical cord blood puncture, fetal endoscopy and treatment, and intrauterine surgical treatment for fetuses, reaching an advanced level in fetal intrauterine treatment in China.

It has been selected as a clinical teaching base by more than 10 higher medical colleges such as Anhui University of Science and Technology, Anhui Medical University, Shantou University School of Medicine, and Shenzhen University.
